Indiana Insider: Updated Top 60 2016 Rankings

By Phil Wade

Indiana Executive Director

Now that the fall season is officially complete, it's time to once again update the class rankings.  We begin first with the Top 60 players in the 2016 class, and for the first time since ranking the class there is a new No. 1.

**The rest of the top 200 rankings will be updated throughout the week.

1-10

1. Skylar Szynski, RHP, Penn HS (Indiana)

Skylar SzynskiLike last year, Indiana’s 2016 class is loaded with pitching and at the top of that list is Penn High School right-hander Skylar Szysnki.  Szynski, an athletically built 6-foot-2, 195 pounder, had one of the most impressive years of anyone in the state.  In June he led his Penn squad to a 4A State title.  In July he was invited to the East Coast Pro where he registered 95 on the gun on three consecutive pitches, sitting 92-93.  Right after East Coast Pro, Szynski was a part of the Area Code games where he was 90-93 with a sharp slider at 75-78.  He finished his 2016 campaign down in Jupiter where he sat 92-93, hitting 94 multiple times and flashed several 78-80 mph breaking balls with sharp late bite.  It’s safe to say Szynski took a big leap forward this year and continues to increase his draft stock for 2016.
