Inside the Recruitment: 2017 SS Adisyn Coffey Picks Arizona State

Delta High School SS Adisyn Coffey recently committed to Arizona State. 

PBR: Why did you choose Arizona State? What were some key factors in making your decision? 

Coffey: It's a nationally ranked program. I loved the coaches and the warm weather. Being able to be on the field year round helping me to improve my game was a big factor. 

PBR: Where did they first see you compete? 

Coffey: Members of their coaching staff saw me early on, Head Coach Tracy Smith flew into Long Beach California to see me at the Area Code games. 

PBR: What other schools were you considering? 

Coffey: North Carolina, Louisville, Central Florida, Purdue, Missouri, Pittsburgh. 

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it as expected? Easy/Difficult? 

Coffey: It was difficult in the beginning because a lot of the colleges that I wanted to attend weren't truly sold on my ability, but as I continued working hard improving my skills it became easier to get the attention of the schools I wanted to attend. 

PBR: What were you looking for out of a college program to continue you baseball career? 

Coffey: Somewhere where I could have the opportunity to play as a Freshman and a program that could help me become better. Also warm weather was a huge factor for me. 

PBR: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you?  Was there a particular game or event that you feel turned the corner for you? 

Coffey: The summer after my sophomore year, playing in the PBR Future Games, really got my name out there. Playing in California at the area code games also helped a lot. 

PBR: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college caliber player and become serious about taking your game to the next level? 

Coffey: During the fall of my sophomore year when I attended a few camps and college coaches told me that I had the potential to play at the next level. 

PBR: Who is the best player you've faced in Indiana, and why? 

Coffey: Zack Thompson because he had command of his pitches with good speed that really kept a hitter guessing. 

PBR: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are? 

Coffey: Keep working hard and go on as many visits as you can to find out all that you can about the college, baseball program and staff. Don't be afraid to wait for as long as you need to find the right school, you can only continue to get better if that is your dream and more schools will be interested. 

PBR: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point? 

Coffey: When I played in the Marucci World Series in Houston Texas against one of the top teams in the nation and hit a walkoff homerun in the bottom of the 8th. Also making it to semi-state last season with my high school team. 

PBR: Preview your high school season for us.  How do you feel your team will be?  What are your expectations and goals? 

Coffey: I think we will be fairly good because we have great team chemistry. I would like to have a chance to redeem ourselves and make it to the state championship. I would also like to end my high school season on a high mark, setting standards for future players to follow that will help build our program. 

PBR: Where do you play in the summer?  What has been your most memorable experience with them? 

Coffey: I played my summer travel ball with the Indiana Prospects. The most memorable moments have been getting to meet everybody, building lasting relationships with my teammates and extending my baseball family.
