PBR Indiana

On Sunday, October 20th PBR Indiana hosted the fall Unsigned Senior Showcase at Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis.  Forty players in the class of 2014 from Indiana and three player from KY, IL, and MO participated in the event.  Below we look at the top catchers from the event.

1. Garrett Taylor, Parkway North HS (MO), 2014: 5-foot-9, 180 pound catcher registered pop times between 1.94-2.00, an event best.  77 mph from the crouch.  Defensively, he’s one of the best catcher’s we’ve seen overall at PBR event.  Plus arm and feet.  Is advanced fundamentally.  Quiet when receiving, plus receiver.  Ran a 7.15 60 at the event.  Offensively starts with high hands, and slightly open with a slight crouch.  Short, compact swing.  Projects as a high defensive catcher at the next level.

2. Brandon Ruble, C, Franklin Central HS, 2014: A 5-foot-11, 195 pound catcher was a 2.07-2.09 with his pop times at the event.  At last summer’s Top Prospect Games Ruble was quicker with his pop times, 1.90-2.05.  72 mph behind the plate.  Defensively he shows quick feet with a good exchange.  Needs to work on elongating his throws.  Shows good upside.  Offensively, starts open then closes with a small step.  Works uphill with good projectable power.  Bat speed is quick (80 mph exit velo).
