PBR: What were your final stats for Carmel? 

Fiala:  I hit .340 with 7 doubles, 3 triples, 18 RBI's, and a .412 OBP.  Fielding percentage  was 95.73%.

PBR: Why did you choose Notre Dame? 

Fiala:  I chose Notre Dame because of its tradition of academic and athletic excellence that I want to be a part of.  I feel that Notre Dame will give me the best opportunity to succeed both on and off the baseball field and become the best player and person that I can be.

PBR: What other schools were you considering? 

Fiala:  Miami University, University of Illinois-Chicago, Wright State University, and Santa Clara University

PBR: Where did Notre Dame first see you compete? 

Fiala:  Notre Dame saw me play multiple times during the high school season.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play during your first year on campus? 

Fiala: Notre Dame has recruited me as a middle infielder.  I expect to continue to work hard and compete at a very high level to become the best player that I can be.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help Notre Dame? 

Fiala: My athleticism, knowledge of the game and commitment to reach my maximum potential are my biggest strengths.  I work hard and try to get better every day.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player? 

Fiala: My dad has had the biggest impact on me as a baseball player.  He has taught me a lot about the game and has pushed me to play hard and compete every time I step on the field.

PBR: Your older brother, Brooks, plays college baseball at Miami (OH), what advice did he give you while going through the recruiting process? 

Fiala: Brooks told me just to control the things that I can control.  He said that if I play hard and compete every pitch of every game, good things will happen.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in Indiana? 

Fiala: As a sophomore I faced AJ Reed who went to high school at Terre Haute South and currently plays at the University of Kentucky.
