Adam NealCathedral High School senior 3B/RHP Adam Neal recently signed his NLI to play baseball at IPFW. The 6-foot, 180 pounder is a solid defender in the field with a strong arm. At the Top Prospect Games last June he showcased an 81-82 fastball (FB has been up to 84 mph) to go along with a late breaking curveball, both consistently thrown for strikes.

PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose IPFW?

Neal: The opportunity to play D1 baseball close to home and I really like the coaching staff.

PBR: Where did IPFW first see you compete?

Neal: With the Mustangs at Wright State, followed by IPFW’s summer camp and the Roundtripper Academy Showcase.

PBR: When did you take your first visit to IPFW?

Neal: After their summer camp, my official visit was October 3rd.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play when you first arrive on campus next fall?

Neal: They expect me to contribute on the mound right away, with potential of also competing at third base.

PBR; What other schools were you considering?

Neal: DePauw, Earlham, Manchester, Marian, Heidelberg, Anderson

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Neal: Phil Paligraf was a huge influence when I was young.  Coach Rich Andriole at Cathedral has been an unbelievable teacher of the game and a tremendous help to me through the recruiting process.

PBR: You play for the Mustangs in the summer, how has playing for them helped you develop as a baseball player?

Neal: In the summer we faced great competition from all over the Midwest and Southeastern parts of the country.  They definitely helped me gain confidence in big time games.

PBR: What are you goals both personally and as a team this spring at Cathedral?

Neal: To be a leader for the entire program and help mentor our younger players.  Win the 4A state championship!

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you've faced in Indiana?

Neal: Ashe Russell.  We get to face him almost every week in practice.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

Neal: Making it to the 4A State Championship my sophomore year.

PBR: What were your stats last spring at Cathedral?

Neal: .398 batting average, 4-0 as a starting pitcher.
