Montgomery is the younger brother of Christian Montgomery, the Mets’ 11th-round pick in 2011. Jarrett has a similar profile with a powerful right arm. Just a junior, he verbally committed to Florida State last summer. He sat 87-90 as a freshman and easily sits around 90 now, touching 92 last summer. He also shows the makings of a plus breaking ball. He’ll need to throw strikes more consistently, but he has excellent upside.
