It was obvious early that Gantt had speed on his side, running a 6.81-second 60-yard dash as a sophomore at the 2012 Indiana Preseason All-State Showcase after moving to Indiana from Missouri. He only improved from there, running a 6.63 a year later and a 6.53 at the Hoosier Holiday Showcase in December. His speed and outfield actions give him the tools to be a very good defender. He is balanced at the plate with a smooth load. His line drive approach will allow him to utilize his speed, putting constant pressure on the opposing defense.
