Recently Committed Munn Strikes Out Ten to Beat Delphi in Extras

Lafayette Central Catholic’s RHP Austin Munn (Ave Maria) turned in a spectacular pitching performance Wednesday evening, leading LCC over Delphi.

Munn’s only allowed run came off a double by Kolby Myer (2014) in the fifth, scoring Kaleb Salyer (2013).  LCC then tied the game with two outs in the top of the seventh when Andrew Hubertz (2013) scored on an errant throw on a pickoff attempt.  LCC got the game winning run in the eighth when Nick Stone (2012) scored on a single by Evan Kenndey (2014).

Munn had a great outing on the mound holding Delphi to one earned run off of three hits along with ten strike outs.  Munn located his 82-84 mph fastball well by working the corners and keeping the ball down.  His fastball was accompanied by a 12/6, 67-69 mph curveball with good late action.  He kept hitters off balance with the combination of both pitches throughout the game, allowing him to earn the win.
