Westfield's Ryan Pepiot Discusses his Commitment to Butler

Ryan PepiotWestfield Junior right-handed pitcher Ryan Pepiot recently committed to play at Butler University for Head Coach Steve Farley.  The 6-foot-2, 190 pounder was a member of Team Indiana in last summer's Future Games.  Pepiot is now the 16th player off of Team Indiana to commit to a Division 1 program and the third player committed to the Bulldogs.  

PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose Butler? 

Pepiot: I chose Butler because I like the smaller school and campus, I'm going to get a great education, and I wanted to go somewhere that I could help make an impact very early. 

PBR: Where did Butler first see you compete? 

Pepiot: They saw me play in the summer of 2013.  

PBR: When did you take your first official visit to Butler? 

Pepiot: I took my first visit on November 15, 2014.  

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play when you first arrive on campus? 

Pepiot: The coaches expect me to come in and compete for a spot in the starting rotation.  

PBR: What other schools were you considering? 

Pepiot: I was considering Purdue, Illinois State, Indiana, Bradley, Belmont, Campbell and Dayton.  

PBR: You were a member of Team Indiana in last August's Future Games, talk about you experience playing in that event.  

Pepiot: Playing in the Future Games was a great experience. I was able to play with some of the best talent in the state of Indiana along with competing against some of the best players in the Midwest.  

PBR: You play for the Indiana Mustangs in the summer, how has playing with them impacted you as a baseball player? 

Pepiot: Playing for the Indiana Mustangs has made me the player I am today. I have had great coaches and instructors that have helped me reach my full potential.  

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player? 

Pepiot: My dad has had the biggest impact on me because he has pushed me to be the best player I can be.  

PBR: What are your personal and overall team goals at Westfield this spring? 

Pepiot: My goals for this spring are to contribute on the mound, in the field, and with my bat to help win the Hoosier Crossroads Conference and go on a deep playoff run.  

PBR: What is your fondest baseball memory to date?

Pepiot: My fondest baseball memory would be playing in Cooperstown when I was 12.  

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher and/or hitter you've faced in Indiana? 

Pepiot: The toughest hitter I have faced was T.J. Collett.  The toughest pitcher I have faced was Skylar Szynski.
