As we prepare for the upcoming 2016 high school season, we will be taking a preseason glimpse at programs from around the state.

Season Outlook
The Derby Panthers will look to defend their conference title and make a deep run into the 2016 6A State Playoffs.  The Panthers return five position players on one pitcher from a season ago.  Junior RHP Braden Ash will be asked to step up as a starting pitcher for a staff depleted by graduation.  Junior RHP Tanner Olmstead is the only returning varsity pitcher from last spring.  The duo will be called on to pitch significant innings and anchor down the pitching staff.  Derby will look for a pair of seniors to provide leadership to the younger players making the move to varsity, senior 2B Garrett Xanders and LHP Brady Sanders.  Junior Lane Sadler will return behind the plate and will provide experience for the young pitching staff, while sophomore Blayten Tullis will be called on to make an impact at the varsity level. Derby will a tough opponent for any team in 6A, and will have the talent to compete for a state championship.
