Prep Baseball Report-Missouri/Kansas held the Bi-State Winter Open ID Showcase on Saturday, February 20 at Prodigy Baseball Academy in Parkville, Missouri.  The event featured over 50 players from the Missouri and Kansas area in the 2016 to 2019 classes.

Player's profiles have been updated with times, velos, videos and profile pictures. We will take a look at each position, looking at the outfielder's today.  Although some outfielders worked out in other positions, this is just a look at the performances as an outfielder. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

Outfielders

Kyle Abrahamson, Lawrence Free State (KS), 2018
Abrahamson is a 5-foot-10 180-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2018 class from Lawrence Free State HS. He had an exit velo of 82 mph and ran a 4.56 home-to-first. At the plate, starts in open stance, slightly close stride, level path through hitting zone, quick hands, showed feel for the barrel, swing produced consistent line drives to middle/pull side of cage. In the outfield, 73 mph positional velo, over the top arm slot, quick catch and throw, loose arm action.

Andrew Aswegan, Park Hill South (MO), 2017
Aswegan is a 5-foot-11 185-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2017 class from Park Hill South HS. He had an 86 mph exit velo and ran a 4.20 home-to-first, one of the top RHH times for the event.  At the plate, athletic stance, smooth load, short in-line stride, creates bat whip, gap to gap approach.   In the outfield, high three quarters release, quick arm, momentum through the catch, fluid glove to hand transfer, 80 mph positional velo.

Zane Barr, Fort Osage (MO), 2018
Barr is a 6-foot-2 187-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class from Fort Osage HS. Barr ran a 4.34 home-to-first and has an exit velo of 86 mph.  At the plate, starts in a tall stance, no wasted movement in load, aggressive swing, slightly uphill, stays on ball after contact, quick bat speed, solid consistent contact during batting practice, gap-to-gap approach, power to pull side.  In the outfield, over the top release, quick and athletic footwork, momentum though the catch 88 mph positional velo, top outfield velo for the event.

Rod Criss, Staley (MO), 2018
Criss is a athletic 6-foot-2 172-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class from Staley HS. Criss ran a 4.18 home-to-first, one of the top RHH times for the event, and has an exit velo of 89 mph, one of the top RHH exit velos for the event.  At the plate, has athletic set up, controlled leg lift, hands separate from stride, level bat path to extension, strong and quick hands, gap-to-gap approach, power to pull side of field.  In the outfield, plays through the catch, high three quarters release, quick catch and throw, 84 mph positional velo, one of the top outfield velos for the event, athletic actions. 

Austin Kuchta, Hickman (MO), 2017
Kuchta is a 5-foot-10 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2017 class from Hickman HS. He ran a 4.40 home-to-first and has an exit velo of 85 mph.  At the plate, starts in an athletic position, minimal load, short stride slightly closed, swing produced consistent line drives to middle of the cage, loose hands creating bat whip.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, quick footwork, quick catch and throw.

Adam Lewis, Francis Howell Central (MO), 2019
Lewis is a 6-foot-1 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class from Francis Howell Central. Lewis ran a 4.50 home to first and has an exit velo of 82 mph.  At the plate, repeatable swing, showed feel for the barrel and power to pull side, open stance with minimal load, body under control during swing.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velo, athletic footwork, fluid exchange, field ball in position to throw, crow hop, over the top release.

Dalton Mall, Shawnee Mission East (KS), 2018
Mall is a 6-foot-1 164-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2018 class from Shawnee Mission East HS. Mall ran a 4.40 home-to-first and has an exit velo of 80 mph.  At the plate, thin stance, short stride, smooth rhythm, gap-to-gap approach. In the outfield, 83 mph positional velo, one of the top outfield velos for the event, loose over the top arm action, plays behind the ball and through the catch, fluid footwork with clean exchange. 

Tanner Nowatzki, Staley (MO), 2017
Nowatzi is a 5-foot-10 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2017 class from Staley HS. He ran a 4.22 home to first, one of the top RHH times for the event, and has an exit velo of 82 mph.  At the plate, starts wide stance, minimal load, early stride, mostly pull side line drives during batting practice.  In the outfield, 74 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, fields ball in athletic position, quick catch and throw.

Brett Palmer, Park Hill South (MO), 2017
Palmer is a 6-foot 180-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2017 class from Park Hill South HS. Palmer ran a 4.52 home-to-first and has an exit velo of 83 mph.  At the plate, balanced set-up, short stride, quick and strong hands, mostly line drives to pull side.  In the outfield, 84 mph positional velo, one of the top outfield velos for the event, over the top release, clean exchange with fluid footwork, plays through the catch.

James Perry, Liberty North (MO), 2018
Perry is a 6-foot-4 180-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class from Liberty North HS. Perry ran a 4.34 home-to-first and has an exit velo of 92 mph, one of the top RHH exit velos for the event. At the plate, starts in a wide stance, slightly open, short in-line stride, level path though the zone, strong and quick hands, feel for the barrel, power to pull side.  In the outfield, aggressive to the ball with momentum through the catch, 86 mph positional velo, one of the top outfield velos for the event, athletic actions, loose over the top arm action. 

Garrett Presko, Pembroke Hill (MO), 2018
Presko is a 6-foot-2 182-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class from Pembroke Hill HS.  In the outfield, 82 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, quick catch and throw, fluid footwork.

Sol Rainey, Kickapoo (MO), 2019
Rainey is a 6-foot-3 167-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class from Kickapoo HS. Rainey ran a 4.72 home-to-first and has an exit velo of 68 mph.  At the plate, open stance, open stride, smooth rhythm, swing produces mostly line drives to middle of the cage.  In the outfield, high three quarters release, fluid footwork with clean exchange, 72 mph positional velo. 

Ryan Suholaski, Rockhurst (MO), 2017
Suholaski is a 6-foot-1 190-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2017 class from Rockhurst HS. Suholaski ran a 4.59 home-to-first and has an exit velo of 77 mph.  At the plate, athletic stance, short stride, level bat path producing line drives to middle of the cage, loose hands.  In the outfield, 82 mph positional velo, aggressive to the ball, momentum through the catch, crow hop, over the top release, fluid exchange and footwork. 

Chaseton Wylie, Osawatamie (KS), 2017
Wylie is a 6-foot-1 207-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2017 class from Osawatamie HS.  Wile ran a 4.33 home-to-first, one of the top LHH times of the event and has an exit velo of 87 mph, one of the top LHH exit velos for the event. In the outfield, 86 mph positional velo, one of the top for the event.  At the plate, physical hitter, smooth load, no wasted movement, level bat path producing mostly pull side line drives, strong/quick hands.  In the outfield, quick and aggressive to the ball, over the top release, athletic footwork, plays through the catch with momentum towards target.
