Prep Baseball Report held it's mega-event, The Future Games, at Grand Park in Indianapolis July 30 to August 1.  Here is a recap for the 12 players selected from Kansas.

Kansas Players

Luke Anderson, RHP/SS, Shawnee Mission East
Anderson is a 6-foot-1 160-pound right-handed hitting shortstop.  During infield evaluations, Anderson posted an 85 mph positional velo, with fluid footwork and a quick release, making accurate throws across the infield. He ran a 7.25 60 and had an exit velo of 92 mph.  During batting practice, Anderson showed off his aggressive swing, driving ball into both gaps. He has a balanced set-up with a controlled leg kick.  In game three, Anderson drove in seven runs against Missouri and finished the three-game stretch going 4-for-8. On the mound, Anderson worked 82-85 mph with his fastball, and showed a 12-to-6 breaking ball at 69-73 mph. 

Aaron Funk, RHP, Lawrence Free State
Funk is a 6-foot-5 185-pound right-handed pitcher.  Funk threw an 82-85 mph fastball from a conventional over-the-top release.  He has a controlled, repeatable delivery and his lean frame and loose arm action would suggest an increase in both velocity and movement as he matures.  He throws a late breaking 12-to-6 curveball at 75 mph and a change-up with arm side sink at 74-76 mph. 

Brady Garrison, C/3B, Mill Valley
Garrison is a 6-foot-1 225-pound right-handed hitting catcher. Garrison ran a 7.43 60 and posted a 92 mph exit velo.  During batting practice, he showed a level swing path the produced line drives to the middle of the field.  He has a balanced set-up and has a toe tap for timing and generates fast bat speed.  During catching evaluations, he posted pop times between 2.00 and 2.08 making accurate throws.  He has quick footwork and a quick release. 

Daniel Harper, RHP/3B, Bishop Miege
Harper is a 6-foot-3 200-pound right-handed pitcher. Harper had an impressive weekend, touching 89 mph on the mound and sitting consistently at 85-88 mph.  He has late movement on his fastball and was able to work both sides of the plate. Harper has an over-the-top release and quick arm speed, and showed the ability to repeat his release point and throw strikes.  He showed an 11-to-5 breaking ball with late action and a change-up at 75-76 mph. 

Jordan Maxson, OF/C, Maize South
Maxson is a 6-foot 190-pound right-handed hitting outfielder and right-handed pitcher. During batting practice, Maxson started from a tall stance and used a leg kick to generate power.  He has loose hands and a short path to contact, creating balls with back spin to the pull gap.  He ran a 7.90 60 and hand an exit velo of 91 mph. In the outfield, Maxson has a clean exchange and over-the-top release.  He made accurate throws at 80 mph. 

Jake Randa, OF/LHP, Shawnee Mission East
Randa is a 6-foot 180-pound left-handed hitting outfielder. Randa ran a 7.39 and and posted an 84 mph exit velo.  Randa a simple stroke from the left side, with minimal and loose hands.  He has short path to contact and level path to extension.  In the outfield, Randa has fluid/athletic actions, using a crow hop to go along with his loose arm action.  He has a positional velo of 83 mph. 

Derek Ripp, RHP/1B, St. James
Ripp 6-foot-6 200-pound left-handed hitting first baseman and right-handed pitcher. Ripp is a big target at first base with long arms and long legs, and can also play third base.  He has fluid footwork on the infield and plays through the ball. He throws with an over-the-top release at 78 mph.  Offensively, he runs a 7.60 60 and has a 90 mph exit velo.  Ripp has a balaced set-up and a small leg kick. He is level through contact, accelerating the barrell. He was mostly middle to pull during batting practice. 

Nate Scantlin, OF/SS, Rose Hill
Scantlin is a 6-foot 180-pound left-handed hitting outfielder. He ran a 7.00 60 and had an exit velo of 91.  At the plate, Scantlin has a excellent control of the bat with loose hands and strong hands. Scantlin has a short stride with minimal load, starting from an athletic stance.  He has the ability to use the whole field and create back-spin line drives.  Defensively, he has a positional velo of 84 mph, with a high-three quarters release.  He makes accurate throws and gets rid of the ball quickly, putting the ball on a line to his target.  

Byrce Sell, RHP, Maize South
Sell is a 6-foot-3 165-pound right-handed pitcher. Sell was 84-86 mph at the Futures Games, showing good body control during his delivery and acceleration as he gets down the mound.  He throws from a high three-quarters slot.  His fastball had late run with a tight 11-to-5 breaking ball at 72-74 mph.  His change-up had sink at 75-76 mph. 

Zebulon Vermillion, RHP/OF, Shawnee Mission East
Vermillion is a 6-foot-5 175-pound right-handed pitcher. Vermillion had was impressive with an 85-88 mph fastball with late run, working both sides of the plate.  He has an over-the-top release with quick arm speed.  He showed command of his breaking ball and change-up.  Vermillion's curveball is a late breaking and  11-to-5 in shape at 71-72 mph.  His change-up has late sink at 80-82 mph with fastball arm speed.  Vermillion has loose arm action and slender frame that will allow for strength and increased velo as he develops. 

Adam White, LHP/1B, Bishop Miege
White is a 6-foot-1 170-pound left-handed pitcher.  He worked 78-81 mph, touching 82 mph at the Future Games.  He has clean mechanics and is aggressive getting down the mound.  White showed a 1-to-7 curveball, with tight spin at 69-70 mph and a change-up with arm side sink at 71-72.
