Player Spotlight: RHP Lucas Scheele (St. James, 2017)

Luke Scheele (St. James, 2017) is a 6-foot-4 205-pound right-handed pitcher. He is an imposing threat on the mound, coming from a high three-quarters arms slot and a fastball that reaches the mid to upper 80's. 

He has a sharp and late breaking curveball at 68-71 mph.  Scheele is currently playing for Between the lines this summer after leading St. James to an apperance in the Kansas 5A Regionals. 

Here is a look inside the recruitment of Lucas Scheele.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Scheele: I am looking for a program that will develop a pitcher to max potential and a school with a strong business education or sports management degree.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Scheele: My junior year was solid though we lost at Regionals to Aquinas.  I had a strike out ratio of nearly 2 to 1, throwing over 60% strikes and ranked 4th in Kansas 5A for strikeouts with 24 innings pitched and 43 strikeouts according to Max Preps.  So far this summer with BTL 18U, I have pitched 36 innings with 50 strike outs and an ERA of 0.304.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?

Scheele: My Senior year goals are to rank top 3 in strikeouts for 5A at St James and help the team win 5A State.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Scheele: BTL Hornets - 18u with coach Bob Jones.  Most likely in fall playing with 3 and 2 select with Bob Jones.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Scheele: I have played football in the past, but now only baseball.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Scheele: My GPA is 3.3 and first ACT score was 19.  I plan to retake the ACT in September.
