Shon Plack
Kansas Scouting Director

Jayton Haggard (Marysville, 2017) is a 6-foot-2 160-pound right-handed hitting shortstop and right-handed pitcher.

Haggard continues to show improvement at PBR events. At the Class of 2017 Games in June, Haggard posted one of the top fastball velos at 84 mph.  He has a smooth easy arm action with a high 3/4 slot and repeatable delivery and gets out front with his release point.  He has a breaking ball that ranged from 71-74 mph.

He ran a 7.04 60 and gets down the line in 4.58-seconds.  He has a positional velo of 76 mph from shortstop and has quick exchanges without extra movement or wasted time.

Here is a look inside the recruitment of Jayton Haggard.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future?

Haggard: I have attended camps at K-State last year, Wichita State last summer and Texas University this past January. I had personal contact with several Texas coaches in order to be asked to attend. In all cases, I went through their campus tours.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Haggard: I am looking to receive a great education at the same time while playing for a positive and strong baseball program. I have not decided on one particular major yet, but have a couple in mind. Agri-business, or sports management. Ideally, I would like to attend a school from the Mason Dixon line and south. But, having said that, i'm sure there are many great opportunities in other places that I just simply don't know about yet.

PBR: How did you do your senior year? I personally had a decent year this past high school season. What were your high school statistics?

Haggard: I ended the season with a batting average of .409, an OBP of .452, SLG of.712, I had 27 hits and 19 RBI's. I play several positions on my high school team. The main position being short stop but I also pitch and play center field. I threw several runners out from center during the season. For Pitching I threw 36 innings with 50k's. I ended with a 3-3 record and had 2 saves. And how did your team do? My high school team ended our season with a 9-11 record. I was named an ALL-League infielder in the NCKL.

PBR: What are your goals for your senior season?

Haggard: For my senior season, my goal is to lead my team to a regional win. Our high school has struggled the last several years, with only having 12 to 15 total players out from 9th to 12th grade.(3A School) I want to be a leader, to get the sport going in the right direction in Marysville and leaving the program stronger than when I entered it.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Haggare: I play for the Midwest Stix out of Manhattan Kansas.I will also be playing with the Midwest Stix this fall. I enjoy playing with my competitive team.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Haggard: I do, I play football and basketball in their seasons but practice and play baseball year around.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Haggard: I currently have a 19 ACT score but will be taking the test again this fall. My GPA is  3.3.
