As we’ve reported Shawnee Mission East is off to hot 3-0 start to it’s 2014 season behind the strong performances of several key players.  This week the Lancers had three excellent candidates for Prep Baseball Report Kansas High School Player of the Week in seniors Trey Austin and Gunnar Troutwine as well as sophomore Joey Wentz

As we mentioned in Sunday’s Kansas Notebook Olathe Northwest’s junior Austin Hansen had a dominating outing versus red-hot Olathe East shutting down the Hawks for six innings while striking out 11.

Several other Kansas players had similarly exceptional outings the week of March 24-30 but in the end we selected Josh Farrington of Wichita Heights as the Player of the Week based on his complete game performance against #6 Bishop Carroll on Thursday night.  The senior right-hander pitched seven innings, giving up one run while striking out seven in a tight 2-1 game against central Kansas power Carroll.
