PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it as expected? Easy/Difficult?

Mitchell: My recruiting process was very stressful because I was never sure where I wanted to play. It ended up being an easy decision to play at Pitt State.

PBR: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?

Mitchell: No, I was very open to traveling for college. Obviously it's easier to be closer to home though, and I do enjoy that from Pitt State.

PBR: Where did Pittsburg State first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?

Mitchell: I first talked with the assistant coach, coach Meade, on my birthday in Arkansas during a tournament. I contacted them and followed up after the game and our relationship strengthened.

PBR: Who is the best player you have faced in your state, and why?

Mitchell: Riley Pint or Joey Wentz. Facing these two current MiLB pitchers was obviously a challenge as they're two of the best to ever come from Kansas. You definitely don't have a lot of time to decide whether to swing or not.

PBR: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

Mitchell: Get your name out there early, that's for sure. If you're interested in a college, don't be afraid to try and contact them.

PBR: What do you do in the offseason to keep yourself in baseball shape and prepare for the upcoming season?

Mitchell: I work out with PSP3 3 days a week, lifting and conditioning.

PBR: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?

Mitchell: The team going 21-3 my junior year, setting the record for best record in Blue Valley history.

PBR: What do you like most about Pittsburg State and what were the key factors in making your decision?

Mitchell: I love the training facilities and future additions coming. They're extremely high quality and since they're available to me at all times, I find it very useful.

PBR: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?

Mitchell: Several medium to small Division 1 schools, and several D2 schools in Kansas and Missouri.

PBR: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Was there a particular game or event that you feel turned the corner for you?

Mitchell: My junior year of travel ball I started to be contacted by many colleges. I had a very successful year and finally felt comfortable in my spot.

PBR: Preview your high school season for us. How do you feel your team will be? What are your expectations and goals?

Mitchell: We have a talented team with several future college players. Our issue is the amount of pitching. My coaches and I hope to go all the way to state.

PBR: Where do you play in the summer? And what has been your most memorable experience with them?

Mitchell: I play for the Mac-N-Seitz Elite. The guys I have met over the years are brothers I will have forever.
