Highly athletic and a left-handed hitting shortstop, Custer excites scouts in the Midwest, but he may be a long shot to sign. He’s also considered a top 100 recruit in basketball and is committed to Iowa State, which doesn’t field a baseball team. He was named second team all-state behind Kansas’ 6A player of the year last season and helped Blue Valley Northwest to a 6A state title in basketball. The basketball team was 73-2 with him as the starting point guard heading into this season.
