Initial Class of 2017 Player Rankings

Chris Fuller
Kentucky Scouting Director

Our summer and fall events afforded the PBR Kentucky staff the opportunity to evaluate many prospects in the 2017 class, and the time has come to release our initial player rankings.

With three years of high school baseball left for prospects that just began their sophomore year this fall, the rankings will undoubtedly change and expand significantly as players continue to develop and we continue to go through the process of scouting, evaluating, and gathering information on prospects around the state.  For now, we have compiled our top 40 players in the 2017 class.

Ben Jordan (West Carter HS)sits at the top of the class.  The 6-foot-8, 205-pound RHP topped at 89 mph at our Fall Prospect Games event this fall.  Not yet committed, Jordan is one of the premier pitching prospects in the country.  He is currently also ranked No. 1 in the PBR overall rankings as well.

Jordon Adell (Ballard HS) occupies the No. 2 spot.  The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Louisville commit features a fastball that reaches the high 80’s and a hammer for a curveball.  Adell also shows the combination of speed, arm strength, and power as an outfielder.

Gavin Sullivan (Eastern HS) checks in at No. 3.  The left-handed pitcher burst onto the scene this summer at our Underclass Games event and followed that up with a stellar performance at the PBR Future Games as a member of Team Select where his fastball topped at 87 mph.

Jack Schneider (Daviess County HS) sits in the No. 4 spot.  The 6-foot-3, 185-pound RHP/3B has an electric arm on the mound where he topped at 89 mph at the Fall Prospect Games event at the University of Louisville.  Schneider’s combination of speed , arm strength, and power make him an intriguing position prospect as well.

Cam Hill (Scott County HS) rounds out the top five.  At 5-foot-10, 160-pounds, Hill is not big in stature, but his game certainly is.  The left-handed hitter has sub-7 sixty yard speed to go along with a 93 mph arm from the outfield.  To say Hill is a high-energy player is an understatement.  He plays the game extremely hard and uses his speed aggressively on the base paths.
