PBR Future Games: Team Kentucky Corner Infielders

The PBR Future Games will kick off tomorrow with a position player workout at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana. Team Kentucky position players will run 60’s, participate in defensive evaluations, and take batting practice on the field. Game play begins on Friday with Team Kentucky taking on Ohio at 4:00 PM and Indiana at 7:00 PM. The event will conclude on Sunday with a 4:00 PM game against Tennessee.

Corner Infielders

Will Moriarty, 1B, South Oldham HS, 2017
Scouting Report 2/14/15:
6-foot-4, 185-pound right-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, smooth load, creates some lift with swing, ball jumps when he squares it up, shows occasional power to the gaps, showed a jump in exit velocity at 88 mph, ran a 7.32 60-yard dash. Defensively, shows soft hands, solid footwork around the bag, good arm strength across the infield at 80 mph, continues to show improvements as a hitter at each event. Led Kentucky Baseball Club 16U team in home runs this summer.

Jacob Mulcahy, 1B, Owensboro Catholic HS, 2017
Scouting Report 10/14/14:
6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect with athletic frame, right-handed hitter uses a balanced stance, short stride, good lower half torque in swing, stays quiet with a solid approach, above average bat speed, 84 mph exit velocity off the tee, impressed in BP with line drives to the gaps and showed power potential, went 2-for-3 in game play with an infield single and double to right field, posted a 4.51 home to first time.  Defensively, showed above average corner actions, good body control, long high-3/4 release.

Trent Shelby, 3B, McCracken County HS, 2017
Scouting Report 6/29/15:
5-foot-10, 160-pound left-handed hitter had an impressive showing. Hits from an open stance and squares up with a short stride, short swing path and gets the barrel through the zone with quick hands, line drive type hitter with gap power, uses all fields well, ran a 7.25 60-yard dash, went 1-for-3 in game play with a single to left field. Best defensive showing to date, soft hands and good corner actions, good body control with ability to throw on the move, accurate throws across the diamond with 80 mph velocity. Made First-team All-Tournament at PBR 16U Invitational at WKU last weekend going 4-for-12 with two triples and 5 RBI.
