Q & A with Truman State Commit Ben Hachten (Dupont Manual HS)

By Chris Fuller

Ben Hachten, C, Dupont Manual HS, Class of 2013

PBR: Why did you choose Truman State?

Hachten: I chose Truman for several reasons including the strong academic record of the school, my relationship with head Coach Dan Davis, and the players all gave me positive feedback as well.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Hachten: My top two choices were Truman and Davidson in NC.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you play?

Hachten: They saw my video before they saw me in person.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your freshman year?

Hachten: They expect me to come in and be in the lineup as a freshman. That's part of the reason I made my decision.

PBR: What would you consider your biggest strength as a player?

Hachten: I take pride in my work ethic. Other than that, I hit with power to all fields and I have a strong arm.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on your baseball career?

Hachten: Michael Clark has had the biggest impact on me as a player. He has taught me the right way to play physically and emotionally. He has also taught me everything I know about hitting.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer?

Hachten: Phenom Baseball Academy out of Louisville, KY.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment?

Hachten: I would say it was a tie between a walk off hit against J-Town to cap a 4-5, 6 RBI game and hitting a home run to take the lead against one of our rivals, Ballard, this past season.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in the state of Kentucky?

Hachten: Drew Harrington of Central Hardin

PBR: What are your goals for your senior season at Dupont Manual?

Hachten: I want to win a state championship and win as many games as possible. Also, my personal goals include hitting .500 with at least 35 RBI.
