Unsigned Senior Games: Team Navy Catchers

The PBR Kentucky Unsigned Senior Games event took place at Northern Kentucky University on August 8 and provided close to 50 unsigned seniors the opportunity to showcase their abilities to the PBR Kentucky staff and several college coaches in attendance.

The following is a look at the Team Navy catchers who participated in the event.

Derek Schneider, C, McCracken County HS, 2016
Strong-framed 6-foot-2, 230-pound right handed hitter hits from an open stance and squares up with a short stride, has strength in swing with power potential, shows frame generated bat speed, took good round of BP showing gap power, 84 mph exit velocity (90 at previous event), ran 4.81 down the line, went 2-for-5 in game play with singles to CF and RF. Has a short high-3/4 release with solid transfer, 76 mph velocity with accurate throws, pop times ranged from 1.97-2.10, footwork stays online but has room to be quicker, solid receiver and blocker who handles pitchers well.

Bradley Hammers, C, Garrard County HS, 2016
5-foot-10, 165-pound right handed hitter hits from an open stance and uses a toe tap and short stride to get to square, short swing path and maintains balance through finish, showed occasional pull side power in BP, ran 4.75 down the line, 79 mph exit velocity off the tee (82 previous best), went 1-for-4 in game play with a single to RF and lined out to SS in one other AB. Has a short high-3/4 release with 70 mph velocity, pop times ranged from 2.18-2.29 and will improve with quicker footwork and release.
