Unsigned Senior Series: Top Ranked RHP's (Part One)

By Chris Fuller
PBR Kentucky

It's the time of year where fall ball is coming to an end, and there are many quality unsigned seniors still on the board. Over the next few weeks, we will take a look at some players by position group who have the chance to make an immediate impact for college programs as freshmen in 2019. First up, a look at 5 right-handed pitchers who should be on the radar of coaches looking for quality arms. We''l take a look at five more later in the week.

Thomas King RHP / Trinity , KY / 2018

7/12/17 - Max FB: 86, FB: 83-86, CB: 69-72
6-foot-1, 175-pound RHP (2018, Trinity HS) was impressive last week at WKU. King uses a deliberate delivery and a loose arm that works through a low-3/4 slot to produce both cut action and arm-side run on his 83-86 mph fastball. Though he can get under the curveball at times, his best ones are nasty from the low-3/4 slot with sharp break. King is a very interesting prospect as he dominated hitters at the event.

Carson Werrmann RHP / Campbell County, KY / 2018

6/14/17 - Max FB: 86, FB: 83-85, CB: 73-75, CH: 73-74
6-foot-6, 165-pound RHP (2018, Campbell County HS) is a picture of projection with long limbs and significant room to add strength. Werrmann has a cross-fire delivery with a fastball that sits 83-85, touching 86. His 73-75 mph breaking ball has short/late break, and he shows feel for a 73-74 changeup. Wermann's velocity at the event was a siginificant increase from February, and there's no reason to think he won't continue to add more as he fills out his long/lanky frame.

Jacob Cervantes RHP / West Jessamine, KY / 2018

10/15/16 - Max FB: 86. FB: 83-84, CB: 70-72, CH: 75-76
At 6-foot-5, 205-pounds, Cervantes is a big presence on the mound and has a loose/whippy arm action from a high-3/4 slot. Fatsball topped at 86 and appeared to get on hiters quickly. He flashed good feel for a sharp low-70's curveball that he was able to throw repeatedly for strikes, and mixed in a solid chengeup. Cervantes missed the entire 2017 season with a back injury but will be back on the mound again in 2018.

Jake Ware RHP / George Rogers Clark, KY / 2018

2/12/17- Max FB: 85, FB: 83-85, CB: 67-69, CH: 72-75
6-foot, 190-pound RHP with athletic frame, impressed with ability to locate all pitches in the strike zone, commands both sides of the plate well, arm action is long and works through an over-the-top slot, loose and quick arm projects for more velocity, fastball showed arm-side run and sink, curveball has tight spin and solid 12/6 action located well at the bottom of the zone, has excellent feel for the changeup and stays behind it well to produce good sink and fade.

Luke Fisher RHP / Eastern, KY / 2018

9/23/17 - Max FB: 85, FB: 82-84, CB: 68-71, CH: 74-76
6-foot-1, 185-pound RHP with strong/athletic frame. Clean arm action, over the top slot produces some tilt on fastball, really pounds the zone with three pitches, showed most velocity to date topping at 85, curveball continues to get harder and has solid 12/6 action, changeup has progressed as well and keeps down in the zone. Fisher is in the conversation as one of the top uncommitted senior arms on the board.
