Josh Finerty, C/RHP, St. Xavier HS, 2015

At 6-foot-2, 190-pounds, Finerty possesses a strong and athletic frame and showed two-way potential at the Top Prospect Games in June.

Finerty displayed good athleticism behind the plate with a quick transfer and 77 mph arm strength on throws to second base.  His pop times ranged from 2.02-2.13, and there is room for improvement with a quicker release.  At the plate, the right-handed hitter hits from a balanced setup with a toe tap and minimal stride.  He uses his strong frame to generate some bat speed through the zone and consistently squared the ball up in batting practice while going 1-for-4 in game play.  He showed good speed in posting a 4.37 time down the first base line with an 84 mph tee exit velocity.

On the mound, Finerty shows good balance and tempo in his delivery.  His arm is loose and works through a high ¾ slot, and his fastball sat mostly 80-81 topping at 82 with slight arm-side run and occasional sink.  His 67-71 mph curveball shows mostly 12/6 action and some depth.  Finerty showed good command of the strike zone with both pitches and struck out to of the five hitters he faced in game action.
