With the summer showcase season in full swing, we have had the opportunity to see many Class of 2016 prospects around the state, and it's time to update the player rankings for the class.  This is an initial update to the rankings, and with several Class of 2016 players attending the Underclass Games Event at the University of Kentucky next week, the rankings may need to be tweaked and expanded following that event.

Easton McGee (Hopkinsville HS) hangs on to the top spot.  The 6-foot-6 RHP has reportedly seen his fastball up to 89 mph this summer.  McGee will be pitching for Team KY at the Prep Baseball Report Future Games in a few weeks.

The rest of the top 10 has seen a little bit of shuffling but remains similar.  Stewart Currie, a 6-foot-7 RHP from Daviess County HS has climbed into the No. 3 spot after his performance at the Top Prospect Games that featured his fastball touching 88 mph with arm-side run and sink.  Currie's ceiling is extremely high, and there is undoubtedly more velocity in the tank when he learns how to get more lower half involvement in his delivery.  Currie committed to Louisville following his performance at the Top Prospect Games.

Trevor Howard makes a big splash in the rankings at No. 9.  Previously unranked, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound third baseman put on a show this spring for Southwestern HS when he pounded 16 doubles and nine home runs.  He put his power on display at the State Tournament, blasting a triple to deep center field in Southwestern's opening round loss.  Howard will be a member of Team KY at the Prep Baseball Report Future Games in a few weeks.

Several other newcomers can be found throughout the top 75.  Here is a look at the top 10.
