 On Wednesday, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana looked ahead to the 2018 class. Yesterday, as well as today, PBR Louisiana took a step back and looked at some top 2016 prospects that remain on the market.

With only 14 players off of PBR Louisiana’s top 45 list for the class of 2016, these next few months could see plenty of action with players coming off the board.

Lets take a look at three players that have caught the eye of the PBR Scouting Staff recently.

Available 2016s

+ Johnny Johnson, INF, Runnels HS(2016)
A 5-foot-10, 160-pound infielder with a compact, strong frame and fast twitch actions. Quality overall athlete that runs the 60 yard dash in 6.7 seconds. Quality defender with arm strength, soft hands, and solid overall athleticism. Right-handed hitter with short, compact stroke, quality path with surprising strength at contact. Advanced hitter that consistently makes hard contact and shows feel for timing and pitch recognition.

+ Christian Leonard, C, St. Thomas More HS(2016)
A 6-foot-1, 210-pound catcher with a strong, athletic frame. Flashes the ability to catch at the next level with quality arm strength, developing receiving abililty and presence behind the dish.. Left-handed hitter with short, compact, flat stroke with bat speed and loads of strength at contact. Flashs pull power with an advanced feel to hit.

+ Grant Schulz, INF, Holy Cross HS(2016)
A 6-foot, 175-pound middle infielder with a lean, athletic frame. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange that plays through balls nicely. Showed a loose arm out of a high-3/4 slot with accuracy that produced a 79 mph positional velocity. Right-handed hitter with an athletic setup, smooth load, short stride, quality lower half, and solid balance. Displayed a flat bat path with extension and a gap to gap approach that produced an 85 mph exit velocity.
