Since we are in the midst of the summer season Prep Baseball Report Louisiana is releasing its updated class of 2016 player rankings.

We will take a look at few players that have seen their stock in the 2016 class rise recently, as well as a few new additions to the rankings as the list has grown from 40 players to 45 players.

Fresh off a run to the semi-finals, Brother Martin HS lands a trio of standouts in the Top Ten, in LHP Blair Frederick(No.2/LSU commit), RHP Keagan Gillies(No.4/Tulane commit), and newcomer INF Michael Kirsch(No.7). With this trio of rising seniors the Crusaders look to be a front-runner during next year’s prep season.

Ouachita Christian HS, fresh off a state championship, is another team that lands a trio of stars on the Top 45 list including SS Jake Slaughter, an LSU commit, who retained his No. 1 ranking. As well, Ryan Reynolds, a Texas commit, lands at No. 5, and 6-foot-5 right-hander Aaron George comes in at No. 21.

After an up and down year, Holy Cross HS looks to improve on last year’s record as they land three position players on the list. OF, Tre Turner, comes in at No. 14 and possesses the rare speed and power combo and could be a draft sleeper next June. The Tigers also see the middle infield combo of Grant Schulz, No. 40, and Matthew Muhleisen, No. 44, crack the list.

Two players that saw rises into the Top Ten are Matthew Beck and Trey Morgan. The 6-foot-5 Beck has seen his stock rise early this summer pitching at 86-88 mph and has shown the ability to throw a slider. Morgan has had an outstanding summer thus far, and showed well at the Underclass Games as a legitimate two-way prospect. Sitting 86-88 mph on the mound and posting an astounding 98 mph exit velocity, as well as running a sub 7.0 60 yard dash.
