On Saturday, November 7, more than 50 of the top prospects from across the state of Louisiana participated in the Prep Baseball Report Pre-Season All-State Games at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA.

Today, Prep Baseball Report Louisiana takes a look at the top overall prospects based on their performance at the Pre-Season All-State Games.

Top Prospects

1. Jake Slaughter, SS, Ouachita Christian HS(2016)
A 6-foot-2, 198-pound infielder with a strong, athletic frame. Outstanding defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange and plays through balls athletically. Loose arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 82 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from athletic setup, smooth load, short stride, explosive lower half and solid balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path and explosive bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 97 mph. Quality athlete that also posted a 6.66 60 yard dash.

2. Michael Kirsch, INF, Brother Martin HS(2016)
A 6-foot-1, 200-pound infielder with a strong, athletic frame. Outstanding athlete that posted 6.51 60 yard dash. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange and plays through balls athletically. Right-handed hitter that hits from athletic setup, smooth load, short stride, explosive lower half and solid balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path, and explosive bat speed that produced an exit velocity 96 mph.

3. Landon Marceaux, RHP, Destrehan HS(2018)
A 6-foot, 180-pound right-handed pitcher with an average, athletic frame. Long, loose arm action into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and easy effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 87-89 mph with late sink and advanced command. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape, tight spin, fastball arm speed and sharp break at 78-80 mph. Also showed advanced feel for changeup with fastball arm speed and fade action at 79-81 mph.

4. Haden Erbe, RHP, Crowley HS(2016)
A 6-foot-3, 190-pound right-handed pitcher with a strong, athletic frame. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with lightning quick arm speed and regular effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 89-92 mph with heavy sink. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape with near fastball arm speed, early break and occasional tight spin at 75-77 mpj. Also showed a changeup with near fastball arm speed and fade action at 76-78 mph.

5.Keelyn Johnson, C, Pineville HS(2016)
A 5-foot-10, 165-pound catcher with a strong, athletic frame. Outstanding defender with soft hands, quick footwork, quick transfer, and stays athletic. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and plus life on throws that produced a positional velocity of 79 mph and a pop time of 1.8 seconds. Right-handed hitter that hits from athletic setup, smooth load, short stride, explosive lower half, and excellent balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path and explosive bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 92 mph. Also posted a 7.12 60 yard dash.

6. Ma’Khail Hilliard, RHP, Central(BR) HS(2017)
A 6-foot, 145-pound right-handed pitcher with a lean, athletic frame. Long, loose arm action with lightning quick arm speed into a high-3/4 release and easy effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square, and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 86-88 mph with late cut and life. Breaking ball showed 10/4 shape with late, sharp break and fastball arm speed at 76-78 mph. Also showed a changeup with fade action and fastball arm speed at 79-80 mph.

7. Ryan Reynolds, INF, Ouachita Christian HS(2016)
A 6-foot-2, 215-pound infielder with a large, physical, strong frame. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, quick and clean exchange, playing through balls well. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 84 mph. Switch hitter that hits from a balanced setup, smooth load, leg kick, explosive lower half and solid balance. Gap to gap, power hitter with fluid rhythm, level path and strength at contact that produced an exit velocity of 95 mph. Also posted a 7.26 60 yard dash.

8. Josh Smith, SS, Catholic(BR) HS(2016)
A 5-foot-9, 170-pound infielder with an average, athletic frame. Outstanding defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, quick and clean exchange, and plays through balls well. Loose arm action into ¾ release with accuracy and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 84 mph. Left-handed hitter that hits from a tall setup, smooth load, leg kick, and solid lower half. Line-drive type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 87 mph. Also posted a 6.79 60 yard dash.

9. Will Ripoll, RHP/SS, George Ranch HS(2018)
A 5-foot-11, 171-pound infielder and right-handed pitcher with an average, athletic frame. Solid defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange, and plays through balls well. Short arm action into a high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 84 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from an athletic setup, smooth load, short stride, solid lower half, and balance. Line-drive type hitter with fluid rhythm, short path and quality bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 83 mph. Also posted a 7.2 60 yard dash. Right-handed pitcher with a long, loose arm action into a high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and regular effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes upright. Fastball sat 85-87 mph with late run and command. Breaking ball showed 10/4 shape with late break and fastball arm speed at 75-76 mph. Flashed a quality changeup with fastball arm speed and fade action.

10. Miguel Reyes, RHP/INF, Lafayette HS(2017)
A 6-foot-2, 215-pound infielder and right-handed pitcher with a large, physical, strong, and athletic frame. Right-handed hitter that hits out of an athletic, open setup with a slight wrap and bar in the load, short stride with an explosive lower half and solid balance. Pull hitter with fluid rhythm and level path with bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 92 mph. Solid defense infielder with average hands, a clean exchange, and carry on throws that produced a positional velocity of 82 mph. Right-handed pitcher with a short arm action and a stab on the backend into a high-3/4 release, quick arm speed and regular effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 85-88 mph with sink, and was consistently throw within the strike zone. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape, sharp break, and fastball arm speed at 75-78 mph. Flashed changeup with near fastball arm speed and solid fade action at 75-76 mph.

11. Bryce Scioneaux, RHP, Destrehan HS(2018)
A 6-foot-2, 215-pound right-handed pitcher with a large, strong frame. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with quick arm speed and regular effort. Smooth rhythm,, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 84-86 mph with sink, angle and control. Breaking ball showed 11/5 shape with fastball arm speed, tight spin, and depth at 71-72 mph. Also showed a changeup with near fastball arm speed and fade action at 74-75 mph.

12. Gavin Dugas, INF, Houma Christian HS(2018)
A 5-foot-9, 180-pound infielder with a strong, athletic frame. Quality defender with average hands, fluid footwork, and plays through balls well. Long arm action into a ¾ release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 74 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from an athletic setup, smooth load, short stride, explosive lower half and excellent balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path and explosive bat speed and strength that produced an exit velocity of 88 mph. Also posted a 6.83 60 yard dash.

13. Adam Goree, LHP, Barbe HS(2017)
A 5-foot-11, 175-pound left-handed pitcher and first baseman with an average, athletic frame. Left-handed pitcher with a long, loose arm action into a high-3/4 release with solid balance, front side and some effort. Smooth rhythm, level shoulders, in-line direction, lands square and finishes athletic. Fastball sat 85-87 mph with command. Breaking ball showed 2/8 shape with sharp break and fastball arm speed at 73-74 mph. Showed quality changeup with fastball arm speed, fade action at 75-76 mph. Solid defender average hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange into a long arm action, high-3/4 release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 78 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from a balanced setup, smooth load, short stride, solid lower half and balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path and bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 88 mph. Also posted a 7.07 60 yard dash.

14. Jeffrey Elkins, OF, AES HS(2017)
A 5-foot-10, 165-pound outfielder with an average, athletic frame. Quality defender with soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange and plays through balls well. Short arm action into ¾ release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 80 mph. Right-handed hitter that hits from athletic setup, smooth load, leg kick, solid lower half and balance. Gap to gap type hitter with fluid rhythm, level path and explosive bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 88 mph. Outstanding athlete that posted a 6.7 60 yard dash.

15. Nick Webre, OF, Teurlings Catholic HS(2017)
A 5-foot-10, 185-pound outfielder with a strong, physical frame. Solid defender with average hands, clean exchange and plays through balls well. Long arm action into ¾ release with accuracy on throws that produced a positional velocity of 80 mph. Left-handed hitter that hits from a crouch, smooth load, short stride, explosive lower half, and solid balance. Gap to gap type hitter, fluid rhythm, slightly uphill path that creates quality extension. Also posted 7.00 60 yard dash.
