Over the weekend Prep Baseball Report Louisiana attended numerous games around the New Orleans metro area and had information coming in from all corners of the state. PBR Louisiana was in attendance for quite possibly the two best pitching performances of the weekend. Uncommitted 2017 left-hander, Austin Perrin, from Hahnville HS was magnificent in a complete game win against a quality Shaw HS club. As well, uncommitted 2015, Jack Burk, from Jesuit HS was flat-out dominate against St. Thomas More, a prospect heavy lineup. Here are some notes on players that were seen this past weekend. Reminder: Prep Baseball Report Louisiana’s first event will be on May 25, 2015. The Underclass Trials will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas HS in Hammond, LA and is for 2017 and 2018 grads. This event will serve as an identifier for not only the Invite only Top Prospects Games, to be held at a college venue later this summer, but also the PBR Future Games Powered by Under Armour. The Future Games is the premier underclass event in the country with over 100 college coaches in attendance last year.

+LHP, Austin Perrin, Hahnville HS (2017)
A 5-foot-10, 170-pound left-hander with small, athletic frame. Clean, repeatable and athletic delivery with a quick arm out of a high-3/4 release. Pitchability left-hander with outstanding rhythm and tempo throughout the delivery with a strong front side, quality balance point and an advanced feel for pitching. Fastball sat 80-82 mph with arm side run and flashed above average command to both sides the plate. Projectable secondary stuff with changeup being more advanced with fastball arm speed, deception and late fade action. Breaking ball was inconsistent early, but settled in and started to flash a near college average left-handed breaking ball. Gave up two runs in the 2nd inning after a few hits, but after that was virtually lights out. A masterful job of pitching from the 3rd inning to the 7th keeping hitters off-balance and chasing, as he started to command three pitches.

+RHP, Jack Burk, Jesuit HS (2015)
A 6-foot-4, 190-pound uncommitted right-hander with long, lean frame. Athletic delivery with a slight arm wrap and wrist cup, quality arm speed into a high-3/4 release. Fastball sat 85-88 mph with outstanding tilt and solid life. Showed an above college average breaking ball with 10/4 shape all night. Breaking ball had tight spin, sharp, late break at 74-77 mph. Also flashed a solid average changeup in warmups, but did not have to go to it much in game. Commanded the fastball and breaking ball extremely well all night, getting ahead of hitters consistently and then had the stuff to put them away. Finished the night with 10 Ks in a complete game shutout victory against a very talented St. Thomas More HS club.

+RHP, Sean Bretz, Jesuit HS (2016)
A 6-foot-6, 200-pound uncommitted right-hander with long, lean frame. Athletic delivery with solid arm speed out of a high-3/4 release. Fastball sat 84-87 mph with solid tilt and angle. Breaking ball is inconsistent but flashed a near college average curveball with 11/5 shape, depth and sharp break. Shows quality feel for a changeup with fastball arm speed and fade action. Struggled to get swings and misses all night, but battled and finished with a complete game win against a quality C.E. Byrd HS lineup.

+UTL, Steele Netterville, C.E. Byrd HS (2017)
A 6-foot, 200-pound sophomore from Shreveport, LA with a strong, athletic frame. Interesting underclass prospect with obvious present strength. Right-handed hitter with bat speed, strength at contact, and powerful lower half. Also a RHP with advanced arm strength touching 86 mph with an athletic delivery.

+ LHP, Grant Cox, St. Thomas More HS (2015)
A 6-foot-3, 180-pound uncommitted left-hander with a long, lean and projectable frame. Athletic delivery with a quick arm into a high-3/4 release. Fastball sat 84-86 mph touching 87 mph with tilt and angle. Flashed a solid college average slider with tight spin and depth. Slight stiffness in the arm action causes him to struggle with repeating the arm slot and affects control at times, but has clear arm strength and projectability. Also plays the outfield, showing great athleticism and a quality right-handed swing. Finds consistent hard contact with a line-drive, gap to gap approach. Deceptive speed with long strides and solid body control.
