New England Insider: No-hit Profile - Matt Tabor

Matt TaborName: Matt Tabor
Position: RHP
School: Milton Academy
Class: 2017
Ranked: 10th in New England's 2017 class

Scouting Report: Matt is an Elon University commit and has had a very good spring thus far. Tabor pitches in the upper-80s with an online delivery and a good feel for the slider and spilt-grip changeup. The frame is thin and he should be able to put weight on. His approach is aggressive and he has matured as a pitcher since pitching for us at the 2015 Future Games. He also possesses an above average glove at shortstop, as he may be used as a defensive replacement in college.

Matt was kind enough to do a Q & A for us about the perfect game he threw.

PBR: Do you have a ritual you do prior to starting a game?
Matt: I throw long toss and a short flat ground before every start.

What is your pregame routine and how did you warm up in the bullpen?
Matt: I usually throw a short flat ground at 80% and work on the release and timing of all my pitches.

Was there any close calls with walks or errors during the game?
Matt: I went 3-0 on 3 batters including the last kid. Isaac Fossas and Gavin Baker-Greene both made plays that saved it.

What inning do you realize your stuff was plus that day?
Matt: Right from the first inning I felt it was going to be a good day, I wasn't expecting anything though because Lawrence Academy is a very good opponent.

Did you talk about it in the dugout as the game progressed?
Matt: No, the whole team made sure to keep 100% quiet.

What was working specifically that day, fastball or breaking ball, etc..?
Matt: I had my slider really working and was spotting all my pitches.

What words can you use to describe how you felt once you got the last out?
Matt: It was incredible. My catcher, Liam Kennedy ran out and gave me a big hug as the team ran out from the bench. It wan an amazing experience and it could have never happened without those guys.
