Prospect Spotlight: 2015 RHP Wright Lindgren (Ridgefield, CT)

Wright Lindgren, RHP, Ridgefield High School (CT), 2015

Background

Lindgren is a big, physical right-handed pitcher from Ridgefield High School in Connecticut. He pitches for the Connecticut Bombers during the fall. I saw this uncommitted, right-handed pitcher pitch two weekends ago. He is still looking for a school, which surprises me a bit. His arm works, he is big, physical, he repeats his delivery and he projects! Lindgren may just be a late bloomer and I saw him at the tail of end of the process.

Scouting Report

Lindgren shows us a clean circle on the back side, with arm strength. He uses a great deal of arm now as his front side needs to be cleaned up, but when he does, we can expect his command to improve. He has an athletic build with a great pitchers bottom half. At 6-foot-2, 195-pounds we can expect him to be a bit bigger in a couple years. He has a nice slide step in the stretch, to go along with a big leg lift. He pitches 85-86 mph right now and bumped up to 88 with average command. Lindgren's fastball does have life and could be a power fastball later in his maturation process. His spin pitch is a slider which is too big right now but the spin is correct, with a bit of tweaking, it will be an out pitch at the college level. We did not see much of Lindgren's changeup however. This guy is definitely worth a look!
