Conor Moriarty, SS, West Springfield HS, Class of 2016

PBR: Why did you choose UCONN?

Moriarty: I chose UConn because it has always been my dream school since I was a little kid. The coaching staff is great there I really connected with them. They really want to see you work hard and succeed, and overall I just love the school itself.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Moriarty: Other schools I was considering were URI, Boston College, Bryant, and Northeastern.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals for your junior year?

Moriarty: The goals for my junior year is to keep getting better push myself harder than I ever have, try and make the players around me better, and win a lot of baseball games for my high school team and summer ball team.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most memorable experience?

Moriarty: I play for the AP Royals coached by Peter Fatse and my most memorable experience was just being able to play baseball every day with my friends and being able to compete and have fun.

PBR: What person has the greatest impact on your baseball career and why?

Moriarty: I couldn't pick one person but the two people that have had the biggest impact on my baseball career are Carl Hanselman and Pete Fatse. Both are two people that have helped me so much in becoming the player I am today and I have a lot of respect for both of them and without them there is no doubt that I wouldn't be the same player I am today and in the position I'm in.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you’ve faced in the state?

Moriarty: The best pitcher in the state I have faced is Endy Sanchez. He is a smart pitcher and has a really good fastball.
