The Massachusetts Big Board: Top Uncommitted Class of 2015 Pitchers

By Dennis Healy
PBR MA Director of Scouting

Throughout the month we look to highlight some of the top uncommitted talent. Below we would like to showcase several of the top uncommitted class of 2015 pitchers from the Massachusetts area.

Top Uncommitted 2015 pitching Prospects

Gus Culpo, RHP, Worchester Academy, 2015

Visited: Pittsburgh University
Interest From:
Marist, Northeastern, George Mason and Elon
Background:
6-foot-2 projectable frame. Most scouts use the terms, knees and elbows. Culpo has an above average fastball at 88-91 mph with his changeup being his second pitch while being in the process of improving his spin pitch. In time and with some development, he could be a power arm.

Peter Bovenzi, RHP, Bancroft High School, 2015

Background: 6-foot-3, 195-pound stock right-hander currently sitting 84-86 mph with the makings of a good spin pitch in the 70s. Bovenzi needs to continue to work on his development, but is one to watch this winter and spring.

Johnny Lamont, LHP, Groton High School, 2015

Background: 6-foot-3, 190-pound, big, physical lefty. Johnny is an imposing presence with room to grow. Lamont has shown the ability to pitch in the mid 80s with really good feel. His secondary pitches are a work in progress but if he puts the time in, they could develop very well.

OTHERS TO WATCH:

Zane Byrne
, RHP, Franklin High School, 6-foot-4,240-pounds

Austen Michel, RHP, Hamilton-Wen High School, 5-foot11, 200-pound

Matt Fogarty, LHP, Millis High School, 6-foot-3, 215-pound

Riley Sorenson, RHP, Sandwich High School, 6-foot-1, 180-pound

Alex Dihonis, RHP, Nobel and Greenough High School, 6-foot-5, 220-pound
