Season Outlook
The Eagles will look to avenge their early exit in last year’s state tournament with returning some veterans and offensive force. Six starters will be returning highlighted by 1st team All-State Ryan Seymour and 2nd team All-State Jared Gillis. SS Shawn Dulin will also be a force and captain on the infield. Seymour, Gillis and Dulin will be continue their careers together at Delaware State Univeristy.

Seymour will be leading the offense, he batted over .500 in his All-State season. Seymour will put the ball in play and put pressure on the opposing defensive. He only struck out twice in 2015. Look for Dulin to be an on base machine as he led the team last year in OBP. Nolan Henderson will be leading off for the Eagles providing speed and spark at the top. Brandt Penuel is now healthy after playing last season with cracked vertebrae. The left-handed hitting catcher is a great athlete and interesting prospect to watch in the 2017 class. The pitching staff will have a lot of depth as they only lost one pitcher from last year. Jeremy Carrow, John Barkley, and Dulin return as starters on the hill. Look for a couple of very young pitchers who will turn some head on the bump for the Eagles. A solid team from top to bottom should make for a successful season in 2016 for Smyrna.
