Maryland 2020 Rankings Released

Keeping with the 2020 Rankings trend, PBR Maryland today releases the Class of 2020 rankings with the initial top 40. As with any rankings, there is going to be plenty of movement and shakeup as this class moves into their senior year and the rankings expand. This initial release of the top 40 will expand into the top 175+ by the time their senior year comes around. Our rankings are a direct result of the PBR boots-to-the-ground approach to scouting, traveling the land through either our own Prep Baseball Report events or getting out to local events as well in our attempt to provide the most comprehensive knowledge of every state we cover.

Taking the top spot for Maryland is uber talented DeMatha RHP/OF Alex Greene. Greene has continued to improve himself with a solid spring and is turning himself into a top prospect in the 2020 class in the country. Explosive bat speed along with impressive arm strength was on display this year on the summer circuit. Expect a big year for the talented Sophomore as DeMatha looks to build off their successfull 2017 campaign.

Taking the No. 2 spot for the 2020 class is Greene's teammate at DeMatha C Jack Bulger. Bulger has already been known for his prowess on the offensive end with his explosive bat and power from the right side, which was on display after a hot hitting start to the summer. Overlooked however has been the development of Bulger behind the plate defensively which has continued to improve and his athleticism has taken over to combine with his top notch catch-and-throw ability.

At No. 3 is another talented catching prospect in Huntingtown HS C Clay Wargo. Wargo should be considered as one of the top defensive catching prospects and has continued to develop on the offensive end who provides pop from the right side. Taking No. 4 spot is RHP/SS Jake Gelof of Cape Henlopen HS. Gelof has a nice showing at the PBR Future Games, pitching at 85 mph and showing more in the tank as he develops. At No. 5 is the top left-handed hitter in the state Josh Moylan of Archbishop Spalding, who shows big time power potential.

As with all of our initial rankings, there is going to be much movement and turnaround as time goes by with additions of new players and the rankings expand. Who will be No.1 in two and a half years heading into the 2020 June MLB draft? Only time will tell.
