Ask questions to Jerry Shank, Maryland Scouting Director, about the recruiting process, upcoming high school season, specific prospects, PBR events, or anything else that may be on your mind.

We would like to thank all who participated, we enjoy bringing you knowledge and expertise on players and programs in your area.

We will be answering questions throughout the week, stay tuned.

The top questions from the ask.fm Q&A session

How will the invite for the Top Prospect Camp be sent out? Do we have to be requested by a coach?
--When you fill out a request, make sure to put a reference and an email address for them or a phone number. We will make contact with that person to get more information on a player if need be.

What is a good velocity for a junior to be sitting at with D1 intentions?
--It really depends on more than just the velocity. How an arm works and body frame are other factors that play into it just as much as velocity. However, for a typical player that is around 5-foot-11 to 6-foot-2, I would say that a good velo to be around is 85 mph during early junior year to begin to get some looks from division I programs.

Will you be posting the videos and stats from the preseason ID to all the participants profiles?
--All video and stats are posted from the Maryland Preseason ID on each participants profile

Once you have a player profile, how do the college coaches contact you? Is there player contact information posted to the profile?
--Currently all a coach needs to do is contact the state director to get any info on a player. We are in constant contact with them to update any changes and give them the info that they need.

Who are the best 2017 class LHP's?
--Randy Bednar from Landon HS and Grant Burleson from Parkside are currently the two top LHP's in the 2017 class from my perspective. There are still plenty we need to go out and see but these two are the early favorites.

Best 2017 bat you've seen so far? Power? Hit tool?
--Two hitters I've enjoyed watching are Connor Shockley from Parkside and Jacob Paulishak of Middletown. Both show a lot of ability at the plate. Eric Lansinger from Damascus and Brandon Dorsey from Calvert Hall are two other 2017's that I am excited to get out and watch.

Best 2018 hitters this year to watch?
--There are still plenty of 2018's that are flying under the radar, but some guys that I've had a chance to see are Chrystian Mervilus at Riverdale Baptist, Tyler Shockley at Bennett, Kody Milton at Severna Park. The state of DE has some talent as well with Austin Elliot and Zach Gelof at Cape Henlopen.

How do you think Poolesville will do with all the seniors they lost last year?
Read their Season Preview and find out!! Its hard to replace Robbie Metz. But they still have plenty of talent on the roster.
