Jay PerrySt. Mark’s High School (DE) senior and Elkton, MD native Jay Perry committed to Salisbury University in 2014. He has helped the perennial power St. Mark’s win a state title in 2012 and return to the championship game in 2014. The big hitting C/1B was kind enough to take time out for PBR Maryland and let us all get to know him better.

Why did you choose Salisbury?

--Salisbury Baseball has a great history of success.  I felt very comfortable on campus during my visits there.  I like the location.  I am confident that I can succeed in the classroom and on the baseball field.

What other schools were you considering?

--Bucknell, UMBC, Delaware, Catholic, George Mason

Now that your commitment is over, what are your goals for your senior year?

--Keep my grades up and lead my baseball team back to the State Championship game.

What would you like to get accomplished before you step on campus at Salisbury?

--Win another high school state championship.  I would also like to become a better baseball player and get myself in great shape to start my freshman year of college.

What are you looking forward to the most about Salisbury?

--Getting on the baseball field and starting my college career.

Who did you play for over the summer and what was your most memorable experience?

--I played for the Delaware Diamonds. My most memorable experience with the Diamonds was hitting a home run during our first game at Lake Point during the 2014 WWBC.

Who has been the most influential person over your baseball career and why?

--My father has influenced my baseball career more than anyone else, because he has helped me find the best teams and the best coaching ever since I started playing.

Who is your favorite MLB player and why?

--My favorite player is Chase Utley because he plays the game the right way, and he worked insanely hard to come back from injuries when most people though he would never play at a high level again.

Random question:  What is your favorite movie?

--Step Brothers
