TEAM STRENGTHS
Team speed and contact hitting are two traits that Damascus uses to their advantage and style of play.  Aaron Mettus is the table setter at the top of the lineup and creates havoc on the bases.  Eric Lansinger is a strong bat in the lineup that also runs well and puts pressure on the defense.  The team works hard overall to be a menace on the base paths and smart base runners and Owen Starheim and Andy Bausch are two other players that contribute to this team strength.

QUESTION MARK
Damascus needs some more power guys to step up in their lineup to avoid being strictly a “small ball” team.  Lansinger, a sophomore and rising player in the state, hit in the three hole as a freshmen and looks to solidify the middle of the order once again.
The team also needs to identify a number one in the rotation.  Lansinger also will more than likely fill that role and Mettus, Bryan Jones, Jason Moyer, George Lowe and Elliott Brown will all be called upon to supply innings for the Hornets.

WILDCARD
Mettus comes in this season for the Hornets after starting last season with a hamstring injury and his season started late for the team.  With a full season in the lineup, the junior could have a breakout season.

OVERALL
The Hornets are still young but have matured another year.  Young players like Lansinger and having Mettus for a full season could really help the team.  Damascus could be a fun team to watch this season with a lot of young talent.  Stay tuned.
