Recruiting Road is a feature where PBR Maryland talks recruiting with a collegiate program within the state.  This offers an opportunity for the reader to get to know a little more about the state and also to hear about how things are going with a program you follow or want to learn more about.  This week PBR Maryland???s Recruiting Road is with Troy Brohawn, head baseball coach at Salisbury University.

How did recruiting go for Salisbury this year?

--Recruiting class is almost complete for the 2015 class. We've recruited a great freshman class. We are currently waiting for a few junior college guys to make a decision and it will be complete.

What is an interesting fact about Towson University?

--15 straight regional appearances (2nd longest streak in the country) and been to four of the last 13 World Series.

As a Division III program, explain your philosophy to recruiting? What type of Player are you looking for?

--We look for athletes that will represent the university and our baseball program the right way. We want guys we feel are coachable and will buy in to our pitching/defense/small ball philosophy. Speed and baseball knowledge is important as well.

How do you help prospects understand the many advantages of playing Division III baseball?

--We don't recruit D-III players. We recruit D-I guys who want a chance to play right away and a chance to compete for a National Title every year

With this being your first year as head coach at Salisbury, what is your vision for the future and what foundations are you creating within the program?

--Winning in my opinion is pitching and defense. We will recruit both extensively year in and year out. Pitching depth is enormous late in the season. I played in the National League for 12 years. I love small ball and everything it entails. We will be a great situational offensive team.

How important is having some video footage available to you in order to begin to identify a player you may not have seen before?

--Very important. If possible I like for at least one of my coaches to see each player we're interested in play live. However that doesn't always happen. Video allows us to evaluate the skillset of a player and see if we feel they will fit into our program and what we are teaching.

Prep Baseball Report may be new to Maryland, but is an established resource for amateur baseball across the country. How do you feel to finally have Prep Baseball Report in the state of Maryland?

--Absolutely
