With summer season ready to head into full swing, PBR Maryland has updated and expanded our state rankings. This first update of the class of 2017 rankings has doubled from 20 to now the top 40 players in the state. As usual we keep the coverage to players we have been able to see and will continue to expand this list over the course of the year with updates and expansions.

The first change starts at the top, where Landon’s Randy Bednar moves up to take the top spot over previous No. 1 Brandon Dorsey of Calvert Hall. Committed to the University of Maryland, Bednar is a two way talent with a short quick swing at the plate, a quick first step combined with 6.7 speed, and a strong outfield arm. The lefty shows potential on the mound as well boasting an 87 mph fastball with arm side run and a big breaking ball at 72 mph.

Jeremy Arocho takes the second spot after a stellar season for Old Mill and flashing plenty of ability and tools from the shortstop position. The most dangerous hitter in the 2017 class, Dorsey takes the third spot. Rounding out the top five are the talented pitchers Kieran Garner and Grant Burleson.

Overall, Calvert Hall leads all teams with five players in the Top 40. Want to make your case for our rankings? Think you should be higher? Sign up for an event today and show us why.  Here is a sneak peak at the top 10.
