Daily Roundup: April 24 Games



Poor weather knocked out most of the games yesterday.  Here is what we have reported so far.


No. 11 Mattawan 9 Kalamazoo Central 1
– BJ Butler threw a complete game allowing one unearned run, six hits, no walks, and striking out 13. Austin Collison was 3-4 with two runs scored, Ben Root homered and drove in two, and Ryan Jess was 2-4 with two RBI. Trevor Fink was 2-4 with a double, RBI, and a run and Brian Presley was 2-3 with a double, RBI, and two runs.

No. 11 Mattawan 10 Kalamazoo Central 0 – Austin Collison threw a five inning one hit shutout allowing no walks and striking out seven. At the plate he was 3-3 with a RBI and two runs scored. Mitchell Anderson went 3-4 with a homerun, three RBI, and two runs scored. Trevor Fink was 2-3 with two RBI and a run scored and Brian Presley homereed and drove in two runs. 

Comstock Park 6 Belding 4 – Zane Gonzalez threw a complete game allowing five hits and striking out seven to get the win. Jake Brown was 2-3 with a double, RBI, and a run scored, Travis Richards was 2-3 with a RBI, and Eric Schweitzer was 1-2 with a double, RBI, and two runs scored.  

Grand Rapids Christian 9 East Grand Rapids 1- Austin Batka exploded onto the scene this winter at a couple of events.  Batka finally got to make a start and struck out 13 in five innings of work for the defending DII state champions Grand Rapids Christian HS.  He also did not allow a hit.

Holland Christian 17 Zeeland West 0-Michael Mokma, a talented freshman, struck out nine in five innings of work.  He also went deep for Holland Christian as they rolled.  Mokma also hit a grand slam in the game to help his cause.

Holland Christian 11 Zeeland West 0- Nick Hill got the win for Holland Christian working five innings striking out eight and walking four.
