Daily Roundup: April 4 Games



Howell 8, Brother Rice 3
Howell opened up the season right with a 8-3 win against No. 3 ranked Brother Rice. Ben Balgaard homered in the seventh inning snapping a 2-2 tie, putting Howell up 3-2.  But Brother Rice answered in the bottom of the seventh as Freddie Jehle singled and eventually scored on a double by Bobby Cross. Bradner escaped a bases loaded jam to survive the bottom half of the seventh and send the game to extras.
In extra innings, Howell took advantage of several Brother Rice miscues to score five runs.  Jonny Cheshire picked up the win in relief throwing three innings for Howell.

Howell 6, Brother Rice 7
Game 2 saw Brother Rice sophomore go deep for the second time this season.  Plummer hit this homerun to the opposite field.  Plummer also delivered the game winning RBI in the bottom of the sixth scoring fellow sophomore John Garry.  Highly touted Karl Kauffmann made his varsity debut for Brother Rice going four innings for the Warriors.  He was up to 86mph on the day and struck out six.

Parchment 13, Comstock 5
Parchment pounded out 12 hits in Game 1.  Eric Andrews and Sam Nordquist led the offensive attack with three hits apiece and a combined seven RBI.  Brett Blacken picked up the win.

Parchment 5, Comstock 15
Comstock rebounded in Game 2 scoring 15 runs and winning by the final of 15-5.  Comstock's Dylan Wright had an impressive eight RBI in the second game. 

Grosse Pointe South 3, Dublin Coffman 2
Grosse Pointe South picked up a big win in Columbus, OH yesterday by defeating Dublin Coffman. South's Jack Doyle, an unsigned senior, threw a complete game tallying eight strikeouts in the victory. Carmen Benedetti was 3-3 on the day, while Eddie Champagne and David Wittwer combined for all three GPS RBI.

Flushing 9, Blissfield 1
Kyle Randick led Flushing to a 9-1 victory at perennial powerhouse Blissfield.  Randick hit a deep homerun to left in the third inning.  Flushings Kyle Vince went six and a third innings striking out seven to earn the victory.


Shrine 9, Allen Park Carbini 13
Despite getting multi-hit efforts from Jacob Weshelak, Julian Ernst, and Mark Ruhle, Shrine fell to Allen Park Cabrini 13-9.
