Inside the Recruitment: '17 OF Nate Jones commits to Eastern Michigan

Nate Jones, OF, Battle Creek Lakeview, Class of 2017

PBR: Why did you choose Eastern Michigan?

Jones: After many prayers and listening to God's direction, Eastern Michigan was the exact school I needed to choose for my future.  The coaching staff of Van Ameyde, Roof, and Schmitz are very determined and excited to better the EMU baseball program.  Their excitement is very contagious and I want to be part of their future success.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Jones: I was also considering Michigan State, Central Michigan, and North Carolina.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you?

Jones:  Top Prospect Camp in Battle Creek 2014 and Notre Dame

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment.

Jones: I am proud to say that I play for Bill Blakely and all my brothers on The Midwest Athletics. I don't exactly have one memorable moment, but I would have to say my entire summer spent playing with the most talented ball players that I call my brothers would be most memorable.  They have made me a better person, teammate, and ball player.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?

Jones:  I enjoyed visiting different schools and checking out their baseball facilities and definitely enjoyed getting to know, and having personal conversations with the coaches from each school.
