Michigan Insider: Updated Class of 2017 Player Rankings (March)

What's New At The Top

Nick NeibauerThere were two big moves at the top of the rankings as Nick Neibauer (Country Day, pictured right) and Kyle Bischoff (Utica Eisenhower) saw themselves enter the top 20.

Neibauer, an athletic 6-foot-3, 195-pound Catcher who is committed to Bowling Green State, rose up the rankings after his performance at the Preseason All-State Showcase. His pop times were 1.95-1.99 and he had an exit velocity of 87 mph while also having a good batting practice round.

Bischoff, a 6-foot, 180-pound right-handed pitcher who is committed to Toledo, saw his ranking rise after showing a fastball that topped at 88 mph with command of three pitches in the strike zone with a quick arm and consistent mechanics.

The Risers

Matt BoutinWhile Bischoff and Neibauer saw a rise in their rankings, several other players rose in the rankings after the winter showcases.

Matt Boutin (Dakota, pictured right) a two-way prospect saw his ranking rise up to 21 after being at 80. He impressed in the Preseason All-State Showcase with his skills on the mound, reaching 85 mph, and as a position player. He is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the 2017 class.

Schoolcraft two-way prospect Ricky Clark was another big riser as he is up to 23 in the new rankings. He displayed his athleticism and raw talent at the Western Michigan Preseason Showcase as he ran a 6.65 60-yard dash and an exit velocity of 90 mph. He also was up to 87 mph on the mound.

The Newcomers

Amani KarimAfter several showcases throughout this winter, 100 players have been added to the new rankings with several notable prospects.

Entering the top 25 is athletic Brother Rice SS Amani Karim (pictured right). He showed his top notch defensive skills at both the Eastern Michigan Preseason Preview and the Preseason All-State Showcase. He also had good rounds of batting practice and showed good bat speed.

Grant Jebbia (Monroe St. Mary’s Catholic Central) enters the rankings as he sat 83-86 mph at the second Pitcher Analysis Showcase with good movement and feel for his off-speed pitches.

Lastly, two-way prospect Jacob Raymond (Utica Eisenhower) enters the rankings after showcasing well at both the Eastern Michigan Preseason Preview and the Preseason All-State Showcase both in the field and on the mound.
