Michigan Spotlight Game: St. John's vs Grand Ledge

Michigan Spotlight Game: St. John's vs Grand Ledge

St. John’s hosted Grand Ledge in an early season match-up between two of the top teams in the Lansing area.

Both teams got their offense going early, scoring in the first.

2018 Cal Johnston started the game off with a single for Grand Ledge and advanced to third after two wild pitches. 2017 Xavier Farr walked and got caught in a rundown between first and second, allowing Johnston to score.

2017 Adam Proctor ripped a double to right field to start the bottom half of the inning for St. John’s. Proctor was replaced by a courtesy runner, who scored on a passed ball.

Grand Ledge broke the game open in the top of the fourth with four runs. 2017 Brendan Garfield hit a single to right field that scored two, while Johnston added a RBI sacrifice fly and 2017 Wyatt Rush hit a RBI single.

A two run home run by 2017 Alex Curry in the top of the fifth and a RBI single from Garfield in the top of the seventh completed the 7-1 win for Grand Ledge.

St. Johns struck first in game two, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. 2017 Caleb Paksi drove in St. John’s first run with a RBI single to right field and Proctor made it 2-0 with a RBI on a fielder’s choice.

Grand Ledge score their lone run of game two in the fourth, as Rush hit a double that drove in Farr.

The game was called due to darkness in the bottom of the sixth.
