PBR Game Spotlight: St. Joseph HS vs. Elkhart Memorial HS

St. Joseph 13, Elkhart Memorial 3

Due to the weather, only one team from Michigan, No. 8 St. Joseph HS, was in action yesterday.  Fortunately their game was scheduled in Elkhart, IN, so they were able to avoid the rain drops.

The Bears are coming off of a final four run in 2012 in which they lost in the state-semis to Bay City John Glenn.  Despite losing a ton of senior leadership from the 2012 club, the Bears return a young but highly talented group of players.

One of the talented young players is sophomore right-hander Dennis Jordan, who took to the mound for the St. Joseph Bears.  The 6-foot-6, 230-pound Jordan has gained national attention since attending the Underclass Preview event back in February.  In his first start of the year Jordan endured sloppy conditions and went five innings picking up the win.

Coach Eric Danapilis had this to say following the game, "It was good to get one in finally.  We are young and played a bit sloppy, but it is good to play a game."

Jordan also helped himself from the plate by hammering a homerun to left.  Junior AJ Montoya went 2-4 at the plate on the day.

For the Bears, its a good way to start to the year.
