PBR Spotlight Game: Northville vs Brighton

PBR Spotlight Game: Northville vs Brighton

In a battle between two of the state's top teams Northville took on Brighton.

Brighton has four college baseball commits Alex Dixon (Davenport), Collin McClelland (Saginaw Valley State), Justin Steele (Saginaw Valley State), and Zach Vitkuske (Muskegon CC). Northville features several highly ranked underclassman led by #23 in the 2015 class Evan Flohr.

Northville scratched across the first run of the game in the bottom of the 1st. Unsigned senior Dugan Darnell crushed a double and was driven in as unsigned Senior Tyler Lowe singled.

In the top of the 4th Brighton brought in two runs of their own.

McClelland singled up the middle and advanced to third on a passed ball thanks a huge back stop. McClelland scored on a towering sac fly to left field by Steele. Vituske singled to left and later scored off a wild pitch.

Not to be outdone, Northville scored three runs of their own in the bottom of the 4th.

Unsigned senior Connor Walters singled down the left field line and advanced to 2nd after a bunt single by 2017 Nathan Wixon. Walters later scored on passed ball and Wixon advanced to 3rd. Unsigned senior Steven Bill laid down a bunt single scoring Wixon. Bill scored off the RBI double from Unsigned senior Steven Grosz.

In the bottom of the 5th Northville scored two more runs. Walters slicing line drive down the left field line scored a run. He was driven in on a RBI fielders choice.

Brighton was able to bring across one extra run in the top of the 7th. Falling to Northville 6-3.

Game Two

In game two, a seesaw battle saw Brighton prevail 7-6.

Northville scored their first two runs in the bottom of the 1st. Northville's first two hitters 2016 Zach Prystash and Dugan reached base after being hit by a pitch. Lowe drove a sac fly to the outfield allowing Prystash to score. Unsigned senior Kevin O'Connell drove in Dugan with his RBI single.

Brighton scored a run of their own in the top of the 2nd. Steele earned a lead-off walk and stole second base. Steele scored on an RBI single by unsigned senior Donald Carruthers.

Brighton brought two additional runs across in the top of the 3th. After a lead off walk and sac bunt Dixon singled to bring in a run. He later scored on an RBI fielders choice from Vitkuske.

Northville fought back with another run in the bottom of the 3rd. Walters singled down the left field line, he was scored on a RBI double from unsigned senior Nick Zalewski.

Brighton brought in three additional runs in the 4th.

Carruthers and 2016 Jerad Donkey singled followed by unsigned senior Carson Hopman's RBI double scoring Carruthers. Dixon scored Donkey on a sac fly and Steele singled to bring in Hopman.

Northville answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the 5th.

Lowe singled to right field and advanced to 2nd on a pass ball. Walters reached base on a free base, the next batter O'Connell singled. Wixon singled bringing in Lowe, followed by a bases loaded RBI walk to Unsigned senior Jack Ernst.

Northville scored it's final run on another pass ball tying the game 6-6.

Brighton scored the game winning run in the top of the 6th. McClelland was hit by a pitch to open the inning and stole 2nd base on the following pitch. Dixon doubled to score the winning run.
