PBR Spotlight Game: U of D Jesuit vs Southfield

Perennial Catholic League championship contender took on Southfield High for the Division 1-District 19  Championship. Southfield high is led by 2017 George Osborne who pitched a gem the previous game against Detroit Renaissance to get the Blue jays of Southfield into the Championship game.

U of D Jesuit features a well balanced attack with a lot of talented players led by stellar head coach Jim Mancuso.

Unsigned Senior RHP Adam Bonventre took the mound for U of D and simply dominated the Southfield Offense. He retired 9 straight hitters striking out 8.

The Cub offense of U of D brought their lumber to the game today scoring 6 runs in the opening inning. After a lead off strikeout the next 6 hitters reached base and scored. Unsigned senior Joseph Haddad and 2015 Kalamazoo College Commit Andrew Novetsky led the attack with RBI singles.

Unsigned senior Waymond Lemon smashed a two out double, followed by a free pass to 2016 Dai Dai Otaka. 2017 Scott Nelson crushed a double scoring both Lemon and Otaka easily in the top of the 3rd for U of D.

Haddad, Novetsky and 2016 Pierce Mueller each hit singles to begin the 4th. Haddad was cut down during a rundown but Novetsky later scored on a long sacrifice fly to center field off the bat 2016 Jared Demkowicz.

Southfield scored their only run in the bottom of the 4th on a wild pitch error.

U of D added an additional 7 runs in the top of the 5th inning.

Otaka, Nelson, John Carroll commit Nate Wenson, Novetsky, Mueller, Demkowicz, and Lemon all reached base for the Cubs. The offensive attack was led by Nelson's triple, Demkowicz single, and Lemon's double.

U of D Jesuit won the Division 1- District 19 Championship title advancing to the Division 1- Region 5 played June 6th.
