Brian Bayliss, RHP/MIF, Bishop Foley HS, Class of 2012
PBR: Where have you decided to attend college and why did you make this choice?
Bayliss: I have decided to attend St. Josephs College of Indiana Rensselear. I have decided this because I feel this is the best fit for me academically and athletically.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Bayliss: I was considering Owens Community College for a long time, but the opportunity of going to St. Josephs was one I couldn’t pass up
PBR: Was distance from home a factor in your decision?
Bayliss: Distance from home was not a factor for me. I had amazing support from my family and friends to go where ever I wanted.
PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your
relationship develop with their coaching staff?
Bayliss: The coaches first saw me at a baseball game, and they received my name from two pro scouts from the Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies. My relationship with the coaches has grown a lot. We have been in frequent contact, asking how my season is going and how well I am doing as a player.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Bayliss: The coaches hope that I can come in and be a person they can use right out of the gate. They hope I can be an immediate impact player.
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help your team?
Bayliss: I feel I bring a lot of energy to my teammates. I also encourage all of my teammates to stay positive even when they are not having a good game.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most memorable experience from this past summer?
Bayliss: I play for the South Oakland A’s during the summer. This will be my first year with this team.
PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team as you finish your senior season?
Bayliss: I plan to be the best player I can be, but an even better teammate. I want my guys to know that I am there for them and I will give 110% not matter if I am pitching or playing any other position. Our team goals are to win a Catholic League Championship for our school and also win another state championship.
