By Aaron Wilson
PBR Michigan Assistant Scouting Director

On July 30th through August 1st, PBR Michigan will take a select team of players in the Classes of 2017 and 2018 to represent Michigan at the PBR Future Games in Indianapolis at Grand Park.

Players receive exposure unlike any other event for underclassmen. Last year, 100+ colleges from all over the country were in attendance, including coaches from every Division I power conference in the country. Only players who have a legitimate shot at being a Division I recruit and who have an interest in the possibility of making a verbal commitment during their sophomore or junior seasons have been considered.

John MalcomName: John Malcom
Position: LHP/1B
Class: 2018
Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 209 pounds
High School: Detroit Country Day
Summer Team: Team Elite Prime

Past Showcase/In-Game Performances:
Date: 6/23/15
Scouting Report: 6-foot-2, 209-pound athletic prospect. Wide stance, hands extremely quick to the baseball. Strong and explosive swing with power to all fields. Recorded bat exit velocity of 93 mph. Soft hands at first base with good composure around the bag. On the mound, good rhythm through delivery but lacks aggressive and balanced finish. High front side with downhill action. Fastball sat 82-85 and curveball registered at 69-70 mph with 10/4 shape. Finding consistency with the release point to improve control on the mound will put him in the mix with top 2-way players in the 2018 class.

John MalcomThoughts on being selected to play at the Future Games and represent the state of Michigan: "It's an honor to represent the state of Michigan."

How has PBR helped as far as recruiting and exposure: "PBR articles keep me informed about the college recruitment process. By reading about other players nationally it helps me to set goals. During my participation in the TPG in June 2015 I was exposed to several coaches."
