The PBR MN Prospect I.D.- Minnetonka event took place on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. The event was held at Veteran's Field at Minnetonka High School in Minnetonka, MN. The event featured prospects from the 2019 and 2020 classes who showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff.

Today we begin our analysis with the evaluations of the catchers who were in attendance. 2019 Zachary Selchow (Eastview) was the strongest catcher in the group showing above avg. ability across the board during the event.

6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.99 runner. Leg kick trigger, spin tendencies with lower half, mostly ground ball contact with mid/pull approach, 72 mph exit velocity. High setup behind plate, needs improvement with receiving, solid blocking skills, long release on throws, 63 mph arm strength with 2.51-2.65 pop times.

Taylor Brodersen, C, Heritage Christian, 2019
5-foot-11, 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.65 runner. Tall stance with body load, aggressive swinger, shows pop in bat to mid/pull side of field, consistent solid line drive and fly ball contact, 90 mph exit velocity. Wide strong base, avg. mobility, avg. receiver, solid direction with feet, front shoulder tip, length to release on throws, solid accuracy to bag, 75 mph arm strength with 2.07-2.21 pop times.

Nolan Conzemius, C, Cretin-Derham Hall, 2019
5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.3 runner. Square stance with leg kick, locked wrists through contact, inconsistent BP session, 85 mph exit velocity. Strong setup behind plate, receives balls in upper half of zone well; needs improvement in lower half, above avg. blocker, quick feet with direction, clean exchange, long arm action, 68 mph arm strength with 2.12-2.18 pop times.

Ben Gallaher, C, Cretin-Derham Hall, 2019
5-foot-11, 150-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.2 runner. Square stance with shoulder load, slight lift through swing plane, mid/pull approach with consistent hard contact, 84 mph exit velocity. Works underneath ball well, solid receiver, has quick feet behind dish, clean exchange, quick release from lower arm slot, 75 mph arm with 2.06-2.1 pop times.

Sawyer Hander, C/RHP, St. Charles, 2019
6-foot, 166-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.51 runner. Upright stance with stiff back elbow, heavy collapse at contact, line drive swing plane, ground ball and flare contact, 79 mph exit velocity. Low setup behind plate, solid receiver, avg. blocker, long release on throws with avg. accuracy, 70 mph arm strength with 2.15-2.26 pop times.

Branden Huwe, C, Lakeville North, 2020
5-foot-9, 150-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.82 runner. Closed stance, leg kick trigger, mid/away approach, some looseness in hands through contact, line drive and ground ball contact, 74 mph exit velocity. Avg. receiver, narrow stance, solid flexibility, long stride through plate, should continue to improve with maturity and physical development, 67 mph arm strength with 2.28-2.34 pop times.

Logan Jasper, C, Duluth Denfeld, 2019
5-foot-11, 165-pound right- handed hitting catcher. 7.57 runner. Tall open stance, athletic actions, inverted path through contact, slightly off time during BP, mid/pull approach, flashes solid bat speed, 82 mph exit velocity. Strong receiving glove, has flexibility behind plate, deadens ball well on blocks, slight hitch in throwing release, has above accuracy and carry to bag, 79 mph arm strength with 2.01-2.03 pop times. Strong follow in 2019 class.

Drew Kelly, C, Triton, 2019
5-foot-10, 170-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 6.9 runner. Lowers into hitting slot, needs improvement in lower half, spray contact across field, 80 mph exit velocity. Narrow stance behind plate, avg. mobility, strides to side of plate, avg. exchange and release, lower arm slot, 75 mph arm strength with 2.12-2.18 pop times.

Gabe Roepke, C, Glencoe-Silver Lake, 2019
6-foot, 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.63 runner. Solid athlete, clean path through contact, line drive swing plane, consistent solid contact, 82 mph exit velocity. Shows balance in high setup, above avg. receiver with ability to hold pitches in zone, blocks well and deadens baseball, clean exchange, avg. footwork, long arm action on throws, 69 mph arm strength with 2.14-2.31 pop times.

6-foot-1, 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.8 runner. Body load with double tap trigger, above avg. BP session, consistent hard line drive and fly ball contact, clean path to baseball, 87 mph exit velocity. Above avg. receiver, framer, and blocker. Good direction through plate with solid quickness in feet and exchange, slight hitch in arm action, throws show carry and accuracy to bag, 75 mph arm strength with 2.01-2.13 pop times.

Wider base, has flexibility, shows ability to receive and frame pitches, avg. footwork, clean exchange, quicker release on throws, 72 mph arm strength with 2.19-2.28 pop times.
